Dale Earnhardt Inc.’s No. 01 Car to Feature Coors Light, Official Beer of NASCAR®, Paint Scheme for Two Sprint Cup Series Races
Golden, Colo. (Feb. 21, 2008) – Dale Earnhardt Inc.’s No. 01 Chevrolet driven by Rookie of the Year candidate Regan Smith will feature a special paint scheme from Coors Light, “The World’s Most Refreshing Beer” and official beer of NASCAR® and NASCAR fans everywhere. The Coors Light and NASCAR logos will run on the car for this weekend’s Auto Club 500 at California Speedway and the February 4th UAW-Dodge 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“We’re thrilled that we have the opportunity to partner with DEI to feature our new NASCAR relationship in a couple of early season races,” said Bryce McTavish, vice president of sponsorship and channel marketing, Coors Brewing Company.
“Coors Light is a powerful brand that presents a significant spotlight for Regan Smith and our entire organization,” said Max Siegel, president of global operations for Dale Earnhardt Inc. “We are honored that Coors Light has chosen to align itself with Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Regan for these two events and we’re happy to help further communicate Coors Light’s affiliation as the official beer of NASCAR through this platform.”
Regan Smith will be starting the second race of his rookie campaign Sunday at California Speedway. Smith began his NASCAR career at age 18 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2002, driving two races in the series. He also made his NASCAR Busch Series debut that year at Memphis Motorsports Park. Smith competed in 18 NASCAR Busch Series events for three different owners in 2003. Smith’s Sprint Cup Series career began in 2007 when he shared the No. 01 U.S. Army car with veteran Mark Martin and fellow rookie Aric Almirola. He also competed in 17 NASCAR Nationwide events and collected his first career pole at Kentucky Speedway.
